Interim SSC Transformation Director

We are seeking an experienced Shared Services Center (SSC) Transformation Director to lead and rescue a distressed program of work. The ideal candidate will be responsible for steering the turnaround of a struggling SSC transformation, ensuring stabilization, operational efficiency, and sustainable growth. This high-impact role requires a seasoned leader with deep expertise in shared services, change management, and a proven track record of delivering successful recoveries in complex, high-pressure environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Turnaround and Leadership:

• Take full accountability for the recovery and transformation of an underperforming SSC program.
• Lead, manage, and motivate cross-functional teams through challenging times, creating a clear vision and action plan to address deficiencies.
• Redefine program objectives, priorities, and timelines to align with strategic business goals.
• Act as the primary point of contact for senior executives and stakeholders, keeping them informed of progress, risks, and key decisions.

Operational Excellence & Stabilization:

• Conduct a deep analysis of the SSC’s operational inefficiencies, identifying root causes of issues and implementing corrective measures.
• Oversee the implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices to ensure immediate stabilization.
• Streamline operations to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service delivery.
• Ensure compliance with financial, legal, and regulatory standards.

Change Management & Stakeholder Engagement:

• Drive cultural and operational change management across the SSC, ensuring buy-in from all levels of the organization.
• Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including executive leadership, functional heads, and external partners.
• Lead communication efforts to ensure transparency, clarity, and alignment across all stakeholders.

Performance Monitoring & Reporting:

• Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor progress, identify risks, and make data-driven decisions.
• Prepare detailed reports and dashboards for executive leadership on program progress, budget status, risks, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Implement financial controls to optimize budgeting, resource allocation, and cost reduction strategies.

Strategic Vision & Long-Term Success:

• Develop a long-term strategy for the SSC transformation program, ensuring scalability and sustainability.
• Align the program’s objectives with the broader business strategy to enable growth, innovation, and improved service offerings.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives post-recovery, focusing on service excellence and operational resilience.

Required Skills & Experience:

• 10+ years of experience leading transformation programs, with a focus on shared services (HR, Finance, Procurement, IT, etc.).
• Proven track record of turning around distressed programs in large, complex organizations.
• Strong expertise in change management, operational efficiency, and process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
• Experience managing cross-functional teams in dynamic and high-pressure environments.
• Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence and drive change at the executive level.
• Strong financial acumen, with experience in budget management and cost optimization.
• Familiarity with ERP and SSC technology platforms and tools.
• Experience in global, matrixed environments with multi-country SSC models is preferred.
