PMO Director – Pre-Deal Integration & Execution

Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced PMO Director to lead pre-deal integration planning and post-deal execution efforts for a strategic merger or acquisition. The successful candidate will play a critical role in assessing operational readiness, defining integration strategies across business functions, and driving the delivery of integration programs aligned with the future Target Operating Model (TOM). This role requires in-person collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders, particularly in Shanghai, and will involve frequent on-site work.

Interim (3-6 months with possibility of extension)

Key Responsibilities:

Pre-Deal Planning:

• Lead cross-functional integration readiness assessments during the due diligence phase.
• Conduct in-depth reviews of existing business operations and processes across functions (e.g., Finance, HR, IT, Operations).
• Identify integration touchpoints and risks, working closely with corporate development and functional leaders.
• Develop a high-level integration strategy and playbook aligned with the future TOM.
• Define which functions/processes will be integrated vs. maintained independently.

Integration Program Management:

• Transition from planning to execution post-deal announcement, owning the integration roadmap and timeline.
• Establish and lead the integration PMO governance structure, cadence, and communications.
• Track progress against milestones, manage dependencies, and resolve issues proactively.
• Support functional leads in executing integration workstreams, ensuring alignment with TOM and business objectives.
• Monitor and report on integration performance, risks, and mitigation plans to executive leadership.

Stakeholder Engagement & On-the-Ground Leadership:

• Act as the primary integration lead on-site in Shanghai, working side-by-side with business unit leaders.
• Build strong relationships across local and global teams to drive alignment and buy-in.
• Facilitate workshops and working sessions to co-design integration approaches with local teams.
• Support cultural alignment and change management efforts.

Qualifications:

• 10+ years of experience in program management, M&A integration, or management consulting.
• Proven track record leading complex business integrations and transformations across multiple functions.
• Experience with TOM design and operational impact analysis preferred.
• Strong understanding of business operations across functions (Finance, HR, IT, Supply Chain, etc.).
• Exceptional stakeholder management, communication, and facilitation skills.
• Comfortable working in fast-paced, ambiguous, and cross-cultural environments.
• Must be located in Shanghai or be prepared to relocate (significant on-the-ground presence required).
